About

The Antioch High School Band Program was established in the early 1930s at the how historic, Blue Hole Road Campus of Antioch High School. Through numerous directors over the years, the band program has established itself as one of the premier band programs in MNPS and in all of Middle Tennessee. The band program is comprised of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, Color Guard, Jazz Band, and Basketball Pep Band. The band serves students from all over Antioch and the entire program has over 150 student musicians annually. The band performs at football games, local and state parades, community events, regional and state concert festivals, and strives for excellence in all aspects of performance and operation. Staff

Dr. Frank Zimmerer, Director of Bands. Dr. Zimmerer has taught in MNPS for 11 years, the last 7 at Antioch High School. While at AHS, the bands under Zimmerer have consistently performed in local, regional, and state marching and concert performance assessments and the ensembles have earned superior ratings. At Antioch, Dr. Zimmerer supervises the entirety of the band program as well as leads the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Beginning Band while also teaching courses in Instrumental Techniques, Class Piano II-III, and leads the AHS New Teacher Mentor Program. Prior to Antioch, Dr. Zimmerer served as the Director of Bands at East Nashville Magnet High School. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Zimmerer earned his bachelor's degree in music education and studio music/jazz performance from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a master's degree in jazz studies from Florida State University. He recently obtained his Education Specialist in Administration and his Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. He is a three-time CMA Music Teacher of Excellence winner, an MNPS Blue Ribbon Teacher, and the 2020-2021 Antioch High School Teacher of The Year. He serves on the TMEA Executive Council as State Jazz Chair and is an innaguarl member of the Equity in Music Committee. Ms. Anna Rougeau, Assistant Director of Bands. Ms. Rougeau enters her third year at Antioch High School where she assists in the operation of the band program as well as teaches courses in Music Understanding. She is originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas. As a trumpet player, she graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Music Education and has served students in both Arkansas (Westside School District) and in Australia. Ms. Rougeau is also a proud member of The Tennessee Credit Union Academy of Business and Finance, is involved with leadership training with the AHS Band, and loves supporting other programs inside Antioch High School. Mr. Tyler Ohlemacher, Assistant Director of Bands. Mr. Ohlemacher is entering his third year in Nashville and in MNPS. A professional drummer and percussionist, Mr. Ohlemacher has performed across the Midwest in genres from rock, to jazz, to classical, to the marching and pep band idiom. He graduated from Wright State University and taught privately in the Dayton, Ohio area before relocating to Nashville Tennessee. As the percussion coordinator at AHS, he supervises the entire percussion program, assists with the band classes, and teaches Class Piano I.  You may contact Mr. Ohlemacher for more information.

Greg Snyder, Assistant Director of Bands. After a storied career in Ohio, Mr. Snyder retired from Lakota West High School in Westchester, Ohio. His career included numerous accolades in marching and concert band, including trips to the Tournament of Roses Parade, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and a three-time performer at The Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic. Mr. Snyder assists with the concert bands at AHS as well as serves as an MNPS Side by Side instructor with the Performing Arts Department.
